6.9 ft Outdoor Kitchen Island with Griddle & Bar Seating

A 6 ft 11 in freestanding island built around a 32 in outdoor griddle instead of a grill, with a 37 in deep countertop so three people can sit along the back. It is the flat-top kitchen in the collection: breakfasts, smash burgers, fajitas and stir-fries, cooked facing the people eating them. Shown in Perla with a teak back panel.

Made by Skol Outdoor Living, fabricated in 304 marine-grade stainless steel and sintered stone.

Layout

How this kitchen works

Cook's side, left to right: a 28 in three-drawer cabinet, the griddle on a 35 in cabinet with two doors, and a 20 in storage-and-trash cabinet.

The countertop overhangs the back by about 10 in, so the back of the island is a counter for stools. A griddle has no lid and no flare-ups, which is what makes it a good surface to sit across from: food goes straight from the flat-top to the plates in front of the guests.

There is counter on both sides of the griddle - 28 in on one side and 20 in on the other - for a tray of raw ingredients and a stack of plates.

Will it fit

Size and the space it needs

Footprint: 6 ft 11 in long x 37 in deep (27 in of cabinets plus the bar overhang), with the countertop at 35.7 in.

Allow 42 in of clear floor on the cook's side, 36 to 44 in behind the stools and a 36 in path at each end - an area of about 13 x 10 ft.

There is no sink or refrigerator, so the island needs only the griddle's fuel or power supply - check the griddle's spec - and no water line or drain.

Is it for you

Who this design suits

Best for

  • Families who cook breakfast and casual dinners outside, with the kids at the counter.
  • A second cooking station next to an existing grill, so burgers and sides cook at the same time.
  • Small patios where a full island with a sink would not fit.

Keep in mind

  • No grill: no lid for roasting or smoking, and no char marks.
  • Guests sit close to a hot surface - keep the stools for adults and older kids while the griddle is on.
  • The 10 in overhang is a counter for eating, not a dining table for long dinners.
